  • What is the difference between an "original" and a "print"?
    "Original" art work is the actual painting, design, or creation that was initially made. These are typically painted on higher quality paper or canvas, with higher quality pigments. A "print" is the reproduction of an original piece, so that it's design can be enjoyed by all who want it! These are usually printed on heavyweight. quality paper with pigment based inks for longevity and durability. There can only be one original for each hand-designed piece, as something can only be hand-created once. Every hand-design is considered a new original!
  • What is the best way to frame my new artwork?
    As with most hand-painted art pieces, you want to avoid putting another surface (like glass) directly against the pigment. So, the best framing options are either glass-less frames, beveled (or mat board) frames, or shadow-box frames. Before framing any art work, make sure to carefully dust it off with a dry, soft cloth and avoid getting it wet!
  • What is a "Digital Download" art print?
    Some art prints are available as instant digital downloads. These are high-quality original artworks in a .png file. The .png file is instantly available once payment for your order is received!
  • Can I commission a custom order other than the items listed?
    Maybe! If you have a special request for a custom commission other than the kinds listed on the site, please fill out the contact request form and share what it is you're wanting! Your request will be reviewed with consideration to the time and skill needed. You deserve a beautiful, high-quality design... if this is not possible to deliver on, your request may not be able to be fulfilled.
  • Can I cancel my custom order?
    Custom orders can be canceled and refunded within 24 hours or placing the order. If you'd like to cancel your custom commission, please fill out the contact request form with your request. You will later receive a response confirming the cancelation. Due to the care and time spent planning and creating these special pieces, custom orders are non-refundable outside the 24-hour window. Meaning, you can cancel the shipment of your order, but you will not be refunded.
  • I requested to cancel my custom order within 24 hours, but haven't gotten a reply yet.
    As long as your cancelation request was submitted within 24 hours of placing the commission order (verified by a time stamp), your request will be considered. If you received a request submission confirmation, but have not received a response within 3 business days, please submit another request so we can resolve the problem immediately!
  • What size custom pet portrait is available?
    Modern pet portraits are available in only one print size: 8 x 11 in. Watercolor pet portraits are available in three (3) sizes: 7 x 9 in., 8 x 11 in., or 9 x 12 in. Digitally delivered pet portraits are delivered as a .png file and are "size-less".
  • How many pets can I have in one custom portrait?
    Modern pet portraits can feature up to three (3) pets per portrait. Watercolor pet portraits can only feature one (1) pet.
  • What type of pet can I get a custom portrait of?
    You can order a custom portrait of any pet you want! Love your pet rock? Okay... just be sure to upload a photo that meets the guidelines, and wait for your pet to made into lasting art!
  • Will I get a proof of my custom pet portrait for approval?
    In an effort to get your order to you as quickly as possible, you will not receive any artwork previews or proofs. But don't worry! If your provided photo won't make the best pet portrait, we'll reach out to you for a new one.
  • What are the photo guidelines?
    1. The desired subject should be facing forward as much as possible, and should be the main focus of the photo 2. It is best to use photos with natural lighting—added filters or overediting can potentially result in inaccurate coloring and/or designs. 3. Multiple subjects are allowed! Please be aware that smaller items can be harder to customize with multiple designs and still be clear and accurate. 4. If, for any reason, your photo(s) aren't usable, you will be notified and given the opportunity to submit a new one. Don't worry, you will still get your personalized order ;). 5. If your photo is of a pet: try to use photos where accessories (including collars) are removed, if possible. 6. Any additional special design requests can be added to the order notes and will fulfilled if possible. You can also find the "Photo Guidelines" on the product page of each custom item.
  • Why do the gifts ship differently than the art work?
    Because of how these unique items are made, the are produced and shipped through our trusted and credible drop-shipping partner. Problems with your order, item, or any other concerns are still managed through Design By Alexis. Please don't hesitate to reach out if needed!
  • When can I expect my order?
    For most orders, the average processing time is 3 business days. For larger orders, the average processing time is 3-5 business days. Custom orders vary depending on the piece commissioned. The average shipping time is roughly 7 business days for nearly all orders. Obviously, errors or delays caused by the shipping partner are uncontrollable and unpredictable.
  • Are returns accepted?
    I typically do not accept returns or exchanges due to the custom nature of the products sold. However, refunds, returns, or replacements may be available in unique or unusual circumstances. Please send an email to designbyalexisart@gmail.com if you have any concerns with your order! You can view the official return policy here.
  • Can I change my order?
    Yes! Changes to your order can generally be accommodated as long as you reach out to designbyalexisart@gmail.com within 24 hours of your order being placed. After 24 hours, most changes, including address updates, can no longer be made. If for any reason, your change cannot be accommodated, we'll let you know. Note: In some cases, changes to orders may result in shipping delays.
